Flow Update #5 - Testing multiple travel points for a character
Today I got some work done in the morning!
1. When car flips over, player recovers to last valid position they were in when they were upright.
2. Allowing characters to have multiple destination points in their journey. I think it could have potential for more story telling or interactivity.
I added a couple of portable toilets in the city. Because a city without public washrooms is a miserable experience. In my opinion.
In the future. I think I'll make it a bit more modular with the destinations that occur. And have them like events.
So maybe when they hit key points or maybe after X seconds, the customer will want to chat with you or do some action instead of only going to specific houses in the map.
As I work more on this. I think It can be a fun and somewhat relaxing experience. Move from place to place. Have customers chat and maybe learn about the world. The text used this test isn't final, but I could try to use dialogue to help describe the world and environment. For example. Where are they? Why are there people here? What's their story to why they are here?
In the current case. Maybe the current customer could be a local and he's meeting someone for a date? Or maybe he's a tourist and heard the bar was famous around these parts. Giving a bit of history to the area.
This contrasts to my previous work where usually I just do gameplay without much explanation, so I think like this feels more natural and gives players more inclination to do tasks. To find out more about the city and it's people. Rather than just say "GO TO X in Y SECONDS", or something to that degree.
